Hyundai Repair: 2000 Sonata GLS -Input/Output Sensor Locations, lithium grease, hyundai repair

Question
QUESTION: Hi HT,
I recently came across some great step by step photos of getting to the 2001 Elantra Input sensors on a different forum (which will likely help others you answer questions for):

http://www.hyundai-forums.com/index.php?showtopic=13320&st=0

I have a 2000 Sonata GLS 6cyl and I’m thinking the location of the Input sensor on it is the close to the same as in your Elantra photo’s.  I just received new input & output sensors parts for my car but  before I start working on the car I have two questions:

1) Can You verify  for me if the location of the Input sensors in the photos for the 2001 Elantra are in the same place (or close to) where I might find them on my 2000 Sonata GLS?

2) I also need to know where the output sensor is located with respect to one of these photos. Can you give me a general  position/pointer for its location as well?

Please Advise and Thanks in advance
Carl

ANSWER: The input and output speed sensors are indeed in the same location as they are in the Elantra in the articly you've referenced.

In the last picture, you can see the ouptut speed sensor between the words "baby" and "back."

I've attached the picture in question for your reference.

QUESTION: HELP HT! well I installed both OEM sensors and when I turn the key the car only cranks. So I checked the part numbers shipped to me: OEM 42621-39052-Output 42620-39051-Input but the output I removed from the car had a number of 07426-39201 which the local Hyundai Parts guy said he doesn’t recognize. So what else could it be? I thought it was the lithium grease I applied to battery terminal to prevent the excess carbon build up I had noticed. So cleaned it all off. Still just cranks. Now I'm wondering if it was the LIQUID  black tape I applied to a few locations where I noticed that the existing insulation (black tape) did not cover the colored wires all the way to where the wires enter the plastic clip connections. AND I did the same darn thing to what I found out to be the two O2 sensors (located at the front of the manifold-just behind the radiator?). I globed on a lot on them. HELP?

Answer
Am I correct in presuming the car started normally prior to this repair?

If so, let me know what you removed/reinstalled during the repair.  Also, it may help for me to know whether you have the four or six cylinder engine.  Additionally, I've never heard of liquid tape, but it's possible this is simply a new product I've not seen.  Do you know that it insulates and doesn't conduct electricity?

The part numbers you were given are correct.  I, too, have never seen the number you've taken off the old output speed sensor.  It's possible this is the number used by the manufacturer of the sensor.
