Hyundai Repair: 1999 Accent broken shift cable, shift cable, shift lever

Question
The black cable is broken, but the new part makes it look like I'll have to change the whole cable contraption between shifter and tranny. Are there any special tricks or dangers or shortcuts you know of regarding this operation? Especially, I'm wondering if the levers on the tranny that the red and black cables hook to need to be in a certain position before reassembly. The car was stuck in 4'th gear when it broke, but I notice I can "click"the lever where the black cable was attatched. I haven't removed the red one yet as it is way underneath somewhere, and I was hoping to think of a way to change only the broken black cable. Can you help?

Answer
It'll probably be just as "easy" to change both.  I don't recall having done this in an Accent, but cars that I've done required significant contortions under the dash.

You can put the cables on with the levers in just about any position.  Once you clip everything in place, the shift lever should be in approximately the correct position.  When you've got the cables fully installed but before reassembling everything, check to make sure all the gears engage properly.  If not, there should be adjusters on the shifter end of the cables.
