Jeep Repair: Jeep Liberty Vents, blower motor resistor, airbag deployment

Question
QUESTION: I own a 2002 Jeep Liberty. A few weeks ago, the vents stopped working on all levels except level 4. Basically, if I turn on the system to anything (defrost, heat, AC, etc), levels 1-3 don't blow anything (or barely). Level 4 blows full blast. Any idea what is wrong or what it's going to take to fix it?

ANSWER: blower motor resistor   pass side under the dash

QUESTION: I'd love to take you up on your offer, but we live in Pensacola. Any idea what it will cost to have it fixed?

ANSWER: all depends on where and who u take it to  the resistor  should be able 30 bucks or less  and labor  around here would be about 1 to 1.5 hours

QUESTION: Thanks again. You're really fast. We called Jeep the other day and they said that they'd have to take off the dashboard and just the labor would be about $650 and that the total would be about $1000. Hence, me out looking for better answers! Firestone said they wouldn't do it because of having to remove the dash. Is there a different way to do it? Sounds like we need to investigate a few more places!

Answer
OMG  the dealer quotes u 650 to 1000   geee    here is the instructions on how to replace it  do it yourself  2 screws  and u are done.

REMOVAL
WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS, DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. DISCONNECT AND ISOLATE THE BATTERY NEGATIVE (GROUND) CABLE, THEN WAIT TWO MINUTES FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM CAPACITOR TO DISCHARGE BEFORE PERFORMING FURTHER DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. THIS IS THE ONLY SURE WAY TO DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Open the glove box door to gain access to the blower motor resistor.
Pull out the lock on the blower motor resistor wire harness connector to unlock the connector latch.
Depress the latch on the blower motor resistor wire harness connector and unplug the connector from the resistor.
Remove the two screws that secure the resistor to the HVAC housing.
Remove the resistor from the HVAC housing.
