Land Rover Repair: Range Rover Alarm, door latch, vehicle battery

Question
Hi, I just recently purchased a 2000 Range Rover and the key fob is broken. One day when I went to get into my vehicle, unlocking it with the key in the drivers door, the alarm sounded. I have tried repeatedly locking and unlocking the door. Disconnected the vehicle battery. I even bought a new key fob battery. Now my vehicle is telling me that all windows are not set and enigine is in disabled mode. How can I fix this myself or do I have to have a mechanic do it?

Answer
I think the alarm switches in the driver door latch have failed.  I suggest you replace the driver door latch, then insert the key in the lock.  Turn to lock and hold while pushing the lock button.  Then turn to unlock and hold while pushing unlock.  Then remove the key and push unlock.  It should unlock and the engine should be clear to start.   To set the windows run the windows down all the way.  Then release and quickly re-press the switch.  Hold a few seconds.  Go all the way up, release, then press again. Each window should respond with "set" as you do them
