Land Rover Repair: 1998 Range Rover wont Start. HELP, rangie, air exhaust

Question
My son's 98 Range Rover was vandalized.  ECU brain stolen, some air exhaust thing, etc.  I replaced all the stolen parts parts, but car will not start.  I just does some clicking sound coming from the fuse area on the right side of passenger seat.  All fuses have been checked, changed, replaced.  I am at a loss and frustrated.  Can't even sell it like this. What could it be and what can I do?? Can find anyone who works on this car, and CAN'T afford the dealership.
Help Please, just a mom wanting her car back!!

Answer
Hi Robin,

sorry to read that your Rangie was vandalized.  Clicking sound could be starter motor (perhaps) and I wonder if, after you replaced the ECU, you had the ECU and BECM reprogrammed? Could be that the BECM and security features are preventing your startup.

You may have to 'bite the bullet' and at least have the Rangie connected to a Testbook system for diagnosis and reprogramming.

Send me an email and I'll try to find an independent LR mechanic near the location of your Rangie.  Otherwise, the dealership will have to perform this.

Best of luck,
