Land Rover Repair: 1991 Land Rover Range Rover, left turn signal, land rover range rover

Question
I own a '91 Range Rover and there is a combination of problems i am having there is no power to the blinker on the left side and no power to the seat and when the door is ajar the chime does not go off and their is no power to the dome light could this be the electrical wiring harness in the dash?

Answer
Hi John,

it could be as simple as a corroded contact within a bulbholder.  You'll have to check the door switch to see if it is shorted or if there is any corrosion (a common problem with LR's).  I'd check the bulbholder for the left turn signal light - is the bulb burnt out?  Is there any corrosion inside? Does the wiring look damaged?  As for the seat - it could be the memory module that is causing the problem, it could be the seat motor wiring, the motor itself, the switch.  It's a mercurial problem and one that requires careful detection, patience and a good multimeter.  If you go to a dealer or an auto electrician, it could cost you $1000+ (all in all).

Tackle the problem logically - start with the obvious: burnt out bulbs and fuses.  Move to switches, connectors, wire harness then finally start looking at motors and servos.

Best of luck,
JohnMc
