Land Rover Repair: Land Rover Disco 1, land rover discovery, crankshaft position sensor


Question
I Have a Land Rover Discovery 1 V8 3.9L(Automatic),The problem I have with it, when i am driving 120km/h then I starting to loose power, I swift to neutral and switch off the enjin then restart it and the power are back, What could be the problem?
2nd:And when im starting up after i got to a stilstand it struggles to start only when the enjin are hot,cold start is starts first time,i think it could be the fuel pump,what do you think will be wrong?

Hi Ryan,

Sounds like a sensor problem on both counts.  Maybe fuel temp sensor, coolant sensor, or perhaps crankshaft position sensor.  Sadly, you'll need a diagnostic device to see where the trouble lies.  Does your engine failure trip any codes?  What does the code reader say?  It could also point to headgasket trouble (power loss, difficult hot starts).

If there are any codes stored in your vehicle, it could shed more light on this problem.
