Land Rover Repair: oil leak, valve cover gasket, oil pressure switch

Question
Hello John have a big oil leak as car is running you can see the oil dripping from the bottom of trans. i have pinpointed it to the top rear of engine and running down to trans. going to change the lower intake gasket and seals this weekend will a clogged pcv valve cause this i replaced the valve cover gaskets last week thinking it was that and also the oil pan gasket, the little valve on the pass. side valve cover seems to be part of the housing, can that be removed ,do i have to take the vavle cover off again thanks for your help

Answer
Hi Hector,

not sure which engine or LR model but here goes...

so the major oil leak arose AFTER you changed the valve cover gasket?  I doubt it's the PCV as on the older engines it's found on top front.  Sounds more like valve cover gasket.  My LR mechanic told me this only once - use the best gasket maker you can find and make sure the surfaces are very, very clean.  Torque slowly and evenly.  Worked for me.

Maybe it's the oil pressure switch? Stranger things have happened.

Best of luck,
JohnMc
