Land Rover Repair: Freelander tailgate window problem, land rover freelander, bleeps

Question
John

Tried your calibration fix for Freelander rear window (2003 TD4)without luck.. My problem is ever since removing/replacing the battery the rear window drops and stays there - Will not stay shut using key in tailgate if car is unlocked, Only way to shut it is by locking car and then turning key in rear door.. As soon as car is unlocked window drops - It will raise on button, bleeps and drops again.
Can you help Martin..

Answer
Hi Martin,

it could be a problem within the window ECU...if the recalibration is executed correctly and continually fails. I was told that a 'bleep' usually indicates that recalibration is required. So you could be in a vicious loop.

It also could be that a problem exists and the recalibration is failing due to this problem.  Some owners have seen that the pickup spool for the cable becomes damaged over time and has to be replaced.  Perhaps the cable is jammed somewhere.

here are a couple of sites that might help you with your Freelander problem:
