Land Rover Repair: alarm/electrical, starter solenoid, general mechanic

Engine has been immobilized. The advice I got to reprogram did not work (lock/unlock door lock three times, etc...). Now they are saying maybe
major electrical". Any hints?

Hi Rick,

not sure which vehicle you have but...

could be the park neutral switch inhibitor.   Could also be the fuel cutoff switch that prevents fuel from feeding the engine after an accident has been detected.

Then there is the ignition switch, starter, starter solenoid... all could prevent engine starting.

Can you bypass the ignition switch?  A general mechanic could do this easily - thus removing the security system from the list of culprits.
