Land Rover Repair: after 3 trys Radio code not accepted, radio code, original radio

I recentlty changed the battery in my 2003 discovery (HSE) with nav system.After putting in the battery and entering the 5 digit code the radio still says enter code.After the 3rd time in goes into a wait mode,I also have confirmed the radio code with the dealer and vin # so both are correct.I also was told to leave the key on for 6 to 8 hours, but that hasn't helped either.PLEASE help.Thanks in advance

Hi Craig,

it's rare to read that a valid security code does not work on reconnection.  I've never heard of leaving the key on for 6 to 8 hours after the 3rd code failure.  I have always been told that the radio should be left on for 1 hour before trying again.

As for using the VIN for the radio...that should work for the original radio...UNLESS the radio was changed for whatever reason.  Give the radio serial number to the dealer instead of the VIN...just to be sure.

IF the CODE flashes ... you have to leave the key on (acc position) for 1 hour, then you are able to try again.
