Land Rover Repair: Oil filter area leaking - too much pressure?, oil filter housing, pressure relief valve

Question
Hi - I have a 97RR 4.0 and have had oil leak problems.  It's gotten really bad.  I aked this question on another board, as to what might cause this excessive pressure.  One reply was the oil pump's pressure relief valve might be gummed up.  they suggested changing the pump.  well I know that is a big and expensive job, so i'm wondering if there might be a way to clean/flush out the sticking valve without tearing down the front end of the engine.
Thanks in advance
Larry

Answer
Check the oil pressure. The normal is about 2.2-2.7 bar (30 to 40 lbf/in 2 ) at 2500 rev/min with engine warm.

Check the oil filter housing at the oil cooler's ending. That oftenly broken if It was tighten too hardly.

I think flushing is not a good solution...
