Land Rover Repair: 2004 Discovery brakes, brake squeal, rotors

We just took our Discovery in for the 30000 maintenace check. We were informed that our back brakes were at only 15% and that they also recommend replacing the rotors at the same time. I was wondering if this is common practice or if we could've just replaced the pads.  We were told they were together on these vehicles.

It is the practice of most American LR dealer to change pads and rotors together to reduce the chance of brake squeal or feel complaints.

If you measure the thickness of the rotors I would not be surprised if you found they could be run some distance farther.
