Land Rover Repair: DISCO 2000 Engine, ethanol blend, disco 2000

Question
Hi, I have a Disco II 2000, w/ 93000miles.
1. Wondering what name brand of oil is best (Castrol, Mobil 1, etc..) as well as what type of oil? (5w30, semi-syntec, etc...?)
2. Change when, every 5K??
3. Is there any special additive I should add at each oil change to prolong my engine and components??
4. Is there a huge concern using 89 octane gas compared to 91 octane gas?? I can get 93 octane but then it's the ethanol blend type?
A lot of questions, sorry but I do really appreicate it...What do you suggest...Thanks.

Answer
If v8 engine: Use a 5W/30, 5W/40, 10W/30, 10W/40, 10W/50  oil meeting specifications ACEA
A1 or A2, having a viscosity band suitable for the
temperature range of your locality.

If TD5 engine: use same viscosity, specifications ACEA A1/B1.

Where oils to these European specifications
are not available, well known brands of oil meeting
specifications API SH or SJ may be used.

Change period is depend on the enviroments of use. If just on road, then 12.000, if mixed road and off-road than 8.000  if mainly off-road then 4000.

No additive needed at all. These are very long lasting engines if they are well serviced.

5W/30 will protect from -30ºC (-22ºF) to 35ºC (95ºF).
5W/40 will protect from -30ºC (-22ºF) to 50ºC (122ºF).
5W/50 will protect from -30ºC (-22ºF) to 50ºC (122ºF).
10W/30 will protect from -10ºC (14ºF) to 30ºC (86ºF).
10W/40 will protect from -10ºC (14ºF) to 50ºC (122ºF).
10W/50 will protect from -10ºC (14ºF) to 50ºC (122ºF).
10W/60 will protect from -10ºC (14ºF) to 50ºC (122ºF).

This vehicle is NOT compatible with ‘Bio-diesel’ fuel.

You have to use at least 95 octane unleaded fuel!
