Land Rover Repair: Water behind dashboard - heater matrix, coolant level, interior front

Question
Hi I have 2000 Discovery II,
One year or so,  I had a front end collision and replaced my
radiator, and had other minor damage to the hood etc.

Now I hear the sound of water leaveling when ever I'm turning,
or going over bumps. It's a soothing sound but I have no idea
where the water is trapped. I don't believe it to be the A/C drain.
I had a clog one year and my interior front carpet was soaked...
so I don't believe it to be that. Is there another pipe that could
be clogged. Also I think when ever it rains, it refills it self and
takes forever to evaporate. I live in Houston where where the car
sit outside a lot and stays pretty hot.
Any thoughts before I take it in for a tune up?

Answer
Dee,

this is a common problem with Disco II's.  It could be the heater matrix is faulty.

You could try checking your coolant level.  See if it's low.  A blown headgasket could be the culprit...I hope not.

Check the coolant level then drive for a while.  Do you hear the water sound?  If the level drops again and you don't have a pool of green stuff on your driveway, you could be looking at a blown headgasket.  Get it repaired before it becomes a dropped sleeve - which translates into a new engine and a second mortgage.

Best of luck,
