Land Rover Repair: Remote Entry Unit, landrover discovery, code tag

The keyless entry for my Landrover Discovery S TD5/5 A, 2001 model has stopped working and I am told by the dealer I need a new one. The current one is made a Valeo brand. I have seen a second-hand one for sale online that I am considering but am not sure if it would work with my Landrover. It is a Lucas 3TXA. The seller says it would still have to be programmed by the dealer for my car, and I don't have a problem with this - the saving on the cost of the unit would be good if it is compatible with my Landrover. Are you able to tell me if this model of remote is compatible with my car?

I believe the remote entry I see here in the USA is different from the one you have there.  Here, the Lucas remote would not be compatible.  I suggest you ask the local dealer and be guided by his advice.

In the USA used remotes are usually trash, because we need the coding number to program them into a vehicle, and that's invariably been lost.  It's on a bar code tag affixed to a new remote.
