Land Rover Repair: ABS Brakes, obd ii scanners, abs brakes

Question
John:

My ABS light has gone on intermittently. Sometimes won't go off at all.

I just had all 4 brake pads replaced. When I am coming to a complete stop, going maybe 2 miles an hour, the ABS system seems to come on, and the car barely responds to braking. Never happens at speed. Only 1-2 miles per hour. Sometimes, not always.

A computer scan came up with nothing.

Help!

Thanks.

Answer
The computer scan "came up with nothing" because the person scanning lacked the correct skills, or the correct tool.

Generic OBD II scanners won't talk to the ABS brakes in your car.  You need the special Land Rover test system.  With it, they can see the live data from all sensors, and I'm sure the problem could be sorted out.
