Lincoln/Mercury Repair: comparison, Air Suspension, Air Bags

Question
I am purchasing either a 100k miles Crown Vic/Merc Grand Marquee or a Lincoln and would like to know if they are mechanically the same? Do they share the same reliability records? I assume a Lincoln being heavier may have beefier brakes and suspension but anything else noteworthy? A crown vic is certainly cheaper than a Lincoln but if the reliability is all the same I may go with a Crown Vic. What is your opinion?

Answer
Larry, Both vehicles are pretty much the same underneath. One big difference in reliability between the Town Car and the Crown Vic/Grand Marquis is the air suspension. The Town Car came with it from the factory, but was just an option on the other two. If you got the Town Car, you could easily do away with the air suspension by doing a coil conversion on it. Takes about an hour and costs $188 including shipping. http://www.americanairsuspension.com/cart/products.php?cat=1
