Lincoln/Mercury Repair: car wont start, mercury grand marquis, fuel pump relay

Question
hi... i was wondering if you could help me... i have a 1984 mercury grand marquis and for some reason it decided not to start anymore, as i am told its "spinning freely" and seems to have no compression, took a plug out and it shoots air, so there is some compression.. just trying to find out what it is, no other online place will respond can you help? hope to hear something good from you soon! thanks....

Answer
hello jessica
here is what you do first pull a plug wire off put a thin screw driver in the plug wire . And then turn the car over see if spark runs up the screw driver. If it does not that is wgy the car wont start . then change the eng. mod. it is front of dis. this is usialy goes on fords.

then take off the gas line and see if you are geting gas . if not then it is bad fuel pump or fuel pump relay .

Good luck to u hun and any time you need help u let me know and you also have a pretty name pete
