Mercedes Benz repair: Mercedes Transmission, bowden cable, throttle linkage

Question
How do you remove the transmission on a 1985 Mercedes 300sd diesel?

Answer
Answer:
Raise the car as high as your four jack stands allow.
Remove the starter.
remove the torque converter bolts.
Remove the bowden cable from the throttle linkage.
Place the transmission in neutral.
Remove the drive shaft.
Remove the shift linkage.
Disconnect all wires going to the transmission.
Disconnect the vacuum modulator line.
Remove the transmission cooler lines.
Support the transmission with a transmission jack.
Remove the transmission cross member.
Remove the bell housing bolts.
You will probably have difficulty separating the torque converter from the flywheel, this makes a large fluid spill.
If you must, remove the transmission, then separate the torque converter from the flywheel.
