Military Vehicle Repair: 12 Volt Conversion, alternator wiring, glowplugs

Question
I know that I need to relocate the wires running through the transformer on the firewall but I need to know if I need to do anything with the alternator wiring and any other wiring

Answer
Hi Clifton,
You didn't give much information here.
I don't know what you are working on, or trying to do.

But if by transformer, you mean the resistor on the firewall of a 1009, or 1010 pickup, that just cuts the voltage down for the glowplugs.
You can bypass that with 12 volts, as long as you use a wire heavy enough to supplu the glow plugs, not just a 14 or 12 ga wire. Probably a 10 or 8 ga.

If that is the type of vehicle you are working on, you will need to do a bunch of modifying, and change the starter.\
