Military Vehicle Repair: Oil Cooler Hose Leak, coolant hoses, chevy blazer

Question
Hello,

Not sure if you can help me with this, but here it goes.

2002
Chevy Blazer
2 Door
2 Wheel Drive

I just got my oil changed and the mechanic informed me the oil coolant hoses are leaking. I looked on the driveway when I got home and noticed a very small spot of oil coming from the hoses. It is leaking where the silver metallic tubing meets the rubber hosing, which are underneath the car towards the front slightly on the drivers side of the car. I would like to know if this is something I could repair myself and if so how? Basically, I need to replace the rubber part of the hose but am not sure the procedure of how to do this or where to start. I have three pictures of the two hoses in question if you'd like me to forward them to you.

Thanks,
Vince

Answer
Hi Vince,
It can be a pain, but it can also be done in the driveway.
I might try just puting hose clamps on over the rubber hose, close to the crimped connector. I am not sure if there is enough tube there to clamp it on, or if the hose is in good enough shape for that or not.

I have heard of people cutting off the metal tubing and replacing the hose, but don't have any first hand experience with it.

Replacing the complete assembly could be a chore.
