Mitsubishi Repair: 96 mitsubishi blowing engine fusable link, internal engine components, eclipse gs

Question
My son has a 1996 Eclipse GS 2.0 manual he was driving it and it just quit running like it ran out of gas. checked the spark and there is non.  found the fusible link labeled engine was blown.  replaced it and turned it over for a couple of revolutions and the link blew again. the manual does not tell much about this issue.  Thanks for your help.  Tom

Answer
Tom,
The fusible link is probably being blown by the car's computer because it's not detecting proper fuel flow.  This is a fail-safe feature to prevent detonation; a condition that can cause serious damage to internal engine components.  I would recommend inspecting the fuel pump.  You can try to supply a direct 12 volts to the pump connection and see if it energizes.  If not, you'll need to replace the pump.
Good luck!
