Mitsubishi Repair: mitsubishi repair, mitsubishi diamonte, fuel pumps

Question
I have a 1995 mitsubishi Diamonte V-6 it was running good then all of a sudden it would not pull off even when the accelerator is almost completely to the floor.  it will barely pull forward I was told it may have jumped time but this was not a mechanic who told me this. I don't know what it is because I changed the plugs and wires.

Answer
Mary: You should have your car coded. What does coding mean? You take your car to a shop, they hook it up to their in house computer and that computer will kick out codes as to what might be weak or bad in your car's system. Your car is the right age for those cars with a bad computer in them. As Mitsubishi farmed out the building of their computers to another company that did not build very good ones. With time a piece in those computers will start to leak into the computer and will kill off the computer. But also do you run your car down to empty before filling it up? You know don't you that the fuel is what cools the fuel pump so if you do that to many times, with time you will burn out the fuel pump. Fuel pumps will just go, one minute doing ok and the next nothing. So Mary, I would have the car coded to rule out any problem with the computer or sensors. Then have the fuel pump tested to make sure it is putting out enough fuel for your car. I would say whoever told you that, is talking about the timing belt. Or maybe that the car should be timed, not sure there. But get your car into a shop and get these things checked out. No fun driving around in a car with no power. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
