Motorcycle Repair: 1996 vlx shadow, auto parts store, fuel tank

just bought bike. it was cutting out/backfiring a little until warmed up. now after 40 miles it seems to be getting worse. lots of pops and backfires when slowing down. runs better with choke half on. now it backfires while idleing. what should I check.??

Fist go to the Auto Parts store and get some Seafoam and put it in your fuel tank per instructions.

The carbs are most likely Laqured up badly. This stuff is great. Also put some new plugs in it.
