Motorcycle Repair: Rod Bearings, honda goldwing gl1100, rod bearings

Question
My dad has a 1984 Honda Goldwing GL1100 Interstate and he bought the bike a year ago, and now he is tearing the engine apart and rebuilding it but, he can not figure out how big the rod bearings are, he said they have something to do with color, but he cant figure it out. And he needs them to put the engine back together. We need a convertion chart for Rod Bearings for Goldwings
Thanks,
Brent

Answer
Brent,

The clearances should be checked with
plastigage to be within .001"-.003" for rods.
and .002"-.003" for main bearings.

Rods are marked either #I, or  #II, or #III.
Rod journals are marked, A, B, C.

Crankcase main journals are marked 1,2,3.
Crankcase bearing support codes are on the
right end of the engine case and are marked I,II,III.

It might be easier if you download
this manual and it should have
the chart for the colors etc. listed
somewhere inside. Page 125?
