Motorcycle Repair: 2005 FLHRSI ROAD KING CUSTOM, intake leaks, head pipes


Question
THE QUESTION IS, SINCE I INSTALLED SCREAMING EAGLE[NOT FOR ROAD USE MUFFLERS] 624-99 IS THE PART NUMBER I THINK. THEY ARE ONE PIECE SLIP ON'S. READY, WHY DOES EXHAUST POP ON A DECELL. THE BIKE HAS S.E AIR FILTER KIT AND STAGE 1 DOWNLOAD AND A V&H FUEL PACK. NO INTAKE LEAKS WERE FOUND WITH PROPANE AND SOAPY WATER. EXHAUST DOES NOT HAVE ANY LEAKS IN IT AS WELL.
WHAT IS THE CORRECTIVE ACTION?
SECOND QUESTION. I HAVE A SET OF V&H TRUE DUAL HEAD PIPES THAT I WOULD LIKE TO PUT BACK ON. THE HEAT IS JUST TOO MUCH FROM THE FACTORY CROSS OVER. BUT WHEN THESE PIPES ARE INSTALLED WITH THE MUFFLERS FROM QUESTION ONE, THEY ARE JUST TO DAM LOUD. I WOULD LIKE TO USE THEM SO I WAS THINKING OF PUTTING A WELCH PLUG HALF WAY DOWN THE BAFFLE. WOULD THAT BE TO MUCH OF A RESTRICTION? OR WOULD TORQUE CONES BE MORE IN ORDER. THE BIKE RUNS LIKE A ANIMAL WITH EITHER HEAD PIPES, MORE TOP END POWER WITH TRUE DUALS OF COURSE.

Answer
Your poping is from loading up on fuel and its burning in the exhaust. You probably need to remapp to stop this problem if you are going to keep that exhaust. When you got your stage one download it might have been just a genertic download and not a custom one for your bike.

On the second pipes, in order the quiet them you would have to add a baffle. Torque cones wont help and I am not sure if a welch plug will help either.
