Motorcycle Repair: 1981 suzuki 550l, rubber boots, sharp bends

Question
This bike has been sitting for a couple of years.I cleaned tank and carbs replaced boots to air filter box.The bike will run but is slow to idle down when coming off throttle.like its sucking air, spraying starting fluid around boots has no effect on running.assuming that is a tight seal.thanks for any help.

Answer
Make sure that the cables are free and not sticking.Remove the hand grip and clean and lube handlebar with light oil. When you twist the throttle completely open and let it go it should snap closed and not creep closed.
Also make sure that the slides are not sticking in any way.
Cable routing should NOT have any sharp bends if possible
Turn the front forks lock to lock making sure cables are not binding.
Also sinking the carbs is always a good idea after any type of repairs or cleaning.
I am going to assume you also checked the intakes for damage (the rubber boots that attach the carbs to the cylinder head)if they are damaged replacement is in order.
