Nissan Repair: 1995 nissan maxima, fuel pressure gauge, air control valve

Question
I have a 1995 nissan maxima with 142,000 miles. For the last several months i can start the vehicle and leave it to warm up and when i return to it the car has went dead! It will not start back very easily and when it does it smells like its flooded with gas. also when it starts up it will run roughly and go dead again if you dont stay on the accelerator. I dont know where to start looking, any advice on where to start looking would be appreciated.

Answer
Charlie,

Leaky injectors are a start.  Have the fuel system checked with a fuel pressure gauge.  Check what happens when you turn the engine off.  Does the fuel pressure drop to zero quickly?  If so, you have a leaky injector or two. The car's engine cutting off and going dead is probably due to flooding caused by a too rich condition and the idle air control valve attempting to over compensate due to this excess fuel.
