Motorcycle Repair: oil leak on CB250, honda cb250, valve guides

Question
I think my 1991 honda CB250 is leaking oil from the intake and the exhaust. Also, I found the air filter covered in oil. Any ideas on what could be the cause of this and how I might go about fixing this?

Answer
Hi David,

If the Air filter is covered in oil, that will create too much vacuum and cause oil to be with held in the upper portion of the engine. Also, if there is a umbrella valve in the top end of the motor that is become weathered and dried up, that will allow oil from the top end to flow in both directions. Valve guides can also cause this to happen. If thie bike has quite a few miles on it, that could also be this issue..

Hope this helps!
