Motorcycle Repair: lt80 suzuki, clutch shoes, clutch assembly

Question
my sons lt80 suzuki 4wheeler feels like the auto trans. is slipping. i changed the oil in the trans. and it still slips or at least that is what it feels like. any suggestions on what to check for would be appreciated

Answer
John,

-you didn't mention what year it is but
most of these bikes have a drive belt
that could be worn. Other possible
problems are worn or dirty clutch parts.

-The sheaves may be stiff and need attention
so they can slide easily. Most likely
slippage is caused by the 3 clutch
shoes in the rear clutch assembly.

-They spin out against spring pressure
with the centrifugal force as RPM's rise.

-Check these clutch shoes and springs
and the hub that it grabs onto.
Likely this is the problem and/or
the belt.
