Motorcycle Repair: dyna glide to wide glide, bikers choice, online catalogs

Question
I have a 97 dyna glide and have been looking into replacing my forks with something like one of the 58mm inverted setups. I read that races go into the necks on the dyna's and there are no bearing cups. where i read this it also said that the say a 41mm wide glide softail frontend can work. what would be involved to accomplish this? Is it a matter of getting the right bearings? Maybe the correct length of neck bolt? Any information that you can provide me is much valued.

Answer
You should be able to fit the 41 mm forks without problems. they make 41 mm forks for your bike and the cange would be simple. If you use forks from another bike, you would probably have to change the caliber as well.
Look at some online catalogs like, Custom Chrome, Bikers Choice and V-twin Manufacturing.
In order to do what you want you would have to completly remove the front end from your bike with the bike sitting upright. You would have to be careful with the wiring and the routing of it as well as the brake line, headlight assembly, and clutch. If you are going wider then you would have to get a wider fender and make sure you spaced out the tire for the forks
Its a big job, but it can be done if you take your time.
Happy holidays
