Motorcycle Repair: Clutch, clutch cable, xj750

Question
Will a clutch cable from a 1982 xj750 seca fit an xj750j Maxim year 1982?  Any tips on installation? The cables do look the same in pictures ive seen and ive heard that they have a lot of the same parts...

Answer
Shane,

the cable is likely very similar,
the only problem might be the length
depending on the handlebar setup.
You can pull the new cable in by
attaching to the old possibly.
You will need a small bit of slack to
keep the clutch from slipping.
Cables can be modified but before
you solder the ends the cable should
be frayed out and pulled tight into
the new cable end. Then you just
get it good and hot and run the solder through.
I have built lots of cables from
scratch. They work good if you measure
and solder them well.
