Motorcycle Repair: CA77 rear shocks, shock damper, damper rod

is it possible to change the plastic covers on rear shocks for a CA77.
i have 2 sets, one with pitted chrome & one with good covers.

Paul, if you look around hard enough, you will find that Honda offered both metal and plastic shock upper covers for Dreams. The shock covers for Benly 125-150s (not CB92s, though) and CA160s will also fit the 250-305cc Dreams.

The shock do come apart, but you either need a special shock removal tool or a big strong assistant and a solid mounted vise to do it. When the upper covers are compressed downwards, a locknut under the upper shock mount will be revealed. When you loosen the locknut the upper mount will unscrew from the end of the shock damper rod and the whole thing comes apart.
