Motorcycle Repair: Honda Goldwing Aspencade 1984, honda goldwing aspencade, tiny air bubbles

Question
Hey Wayne I have a 1200 GL - I have replaced the clutch pack and slave cylinder.  I bled the clutch system according to the manual but I still have no clutch pressure.  What should I do next?

Answer
Mike,

there are a few things that could
be the problem.
-sometimes the fluid can become permeated
with tiny air bubbles that are difficult to
eliminate.
-was the clutch push rod okay? (under the slave)
-was the master cylinder working okay before
the rebuild? There is a small relief hole
in the bottom of master cylinder that could
plug up.
-keep the master cylinder full of fluid and loosen
the banjo bolt on the slave cylinder.
-Get a big pan or lots of old rags.
-Try pumping the clutch lever and holding
your fingers over the end of the hose.
-See if you have lots of pressure.
-Pump a little fluid through and reconnect
the hose. Try not to allow air back into the
line but let it push fluid out.
-Try bleeding the slave again.
-This process might help to get any air out
of the system.
-When you pump the lever, set the master cylinder
cover back on to prevent fluid from shooting out
all over the bike.

-if your slave cylinder is okay and the clutch
assembly has no problems, I suspect the fluid
may just be air permeated or air blocked.
-Tapping around the master cylinder may dislodge
any trapped air in that area.
-I use to tap gently on the lever and sometimes
you can see the small air bubbles working
their way out the top of the master cylinder.
