Motorcycle Repair: crank position sensor, position sensor, kill switch

Question
I have a 2003 harley ultr classic.  It would run down the road and just stop
running.  I could sit by the side of the road for a few minutes, and it would
start and run for awhile, then die.  Was as if the kill switch was on.  It would
not even turn over right way.  I would have to wait awhile, then it would start
again.  HD dealership said it was the crank positioning sensor.  They replaced
it and it ran fine for about 1000 miles.  It died again while going down the
highwy, and it died again in the same way, but this time it will not start even
after waiting.  What would cause the sensor to be going out again, or do you
think that is really the problem?

Answer
If your crank position sensor went out again then I would suspect a short in the wiring. A short to ground could cause the sensor to short out.
The only way to be sure the sensor is bad again is to have a dianostic run on it. If it is the sensor, then I would sllok for a short to ground.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
