Motorcycle Repair: 78 Honda 750 carb problem, vacuum leaks, slow jet

Question
I have a 78 honda 750F about a year ago I switched the engine for a 78 750K which is in much better shape.  When I made the switch I used the 750F carbs (no carbs came with the new engine) I have rebilt and cleaned the carbs twice but the bike still starts hard and I need to run it partially choked most of the time.  I am not sure but I think the slow jet in the 750F is smaller than the  750K carbs and I probably need to change it but I can't find the specs to let me know for sure so I can buy a larger slow jet or drill it out.  Can you tell me where to find these specs and if you think I am on the right track.  I have checked for vacuum leaks and the carbs have been cleaned using a very strong carb cleaner.  Anyadvice would be appreciated.  By the way are all the 750K carbs the same between 73 and 78? (I might be able to pick up a set of carbs).  Thanks Bob

Answer
Hi Bob,
I checked to see what the difference was between (if any) the pilots in my parts diagram for those bikes, but what honda calls a pilot back then is called a "set screw A" and basically the part #'s are the same. Youve got something else going on there beside a pilot size issue..
If you have the chance to pull the pilots out, MAKE SURE you can see light through them. Even though you sprayed carb cleaner at them, it doesnt always mean they got cleaned out in the spray..

Hope this helps!
