Pontiac Repair: Anti-freeze and transmission?, hesitation problem, radiator fluid

Question
1988 pontaic firebird formula 305HO TBI. When im driving my car for a little while i notice a little bit of white smoke coming from under my hood when i stop and a couple days before that i had to pull over because my car was over heating and when i poped the hood i noticed the anti-freeze boiling in the over fill tank, could that be the cause of a bad radiator fluid to water mix? And about my trans, when i try to accelerate quick for example if im crusing and i punch it, it doesnt take off right away but if i push the pedal to the floor and let of it really quick then floor it again the car takes off like it should.Could that be the cause of the trans going out? I have checked everything else but some one told me it might be my fuel pump because the sat for 2 years with only alittle bit of gas before i bought it but it seems to be getting enough fuel when i checked the injectors. Please help me out if u can. Thanx

Answer
Yes, the coolant mixture can cause the engine to run hotter than normal but that is not your problem. Check for leaks, proper fan operation, thermostat operation, etc.
Also there are a lot of things that could be causing your hesitation problem, and I can not begin to list them all.
Your best bet would be to have it properly diagnosed by a qualified technician. It is usually cheaper to have it checked out than to start throwing parts at it and hoping that you get lucky.
