Motorcycle Repair: No turn signals, kawasaki kz550, turn signal switch

Question
Dear Mark,

I'm the owner of a 1984 Kawasaki KZ550 LTD. The bike runs great and hardly ever has any mechanical problems. However, I have just encountered a problem I don't seem to be able to fix. When I press the turn signal switch the turn lights don't come on.(both front and back). There is power going to the turn signals and they all blink when I engage the hazard light switch. All the other lights work fine. Battery is fully loaded. All wires seem to be fine and plugged in, as well as the fuses.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Dan

Answer
Hi Dan,

I suspect a problem with the turn signal switch conatacts or a conductor or connector within switch.

Over the years I've found corroded contacts, webs, and dead insects to cause same symptoms.

You'll have to open the switch hosuing and investigate.

Visit www.bikebandit.com, click OEM Parts, and select the year, make, and model to view microfice parts.

Respectfully,
