Motorcycle Repair: hydrolic clutch, suzuki intruder 800, exaust pipe

Question
I have a 94 suzuki intruder 800, it sat for a couple of months, engine runs fine, transmission goes into gear, but when the clutch is released, we have no power to the back wheel. clutch pedal feels soft and the bike feels like it does in neutral even though its in 1st or 2nd gear

there is a module that sits on top of the left exaust pipe and i am wondering what that module does

why wont the bike run and what does the module do?

Thanks, Mark

Answer
Hi Mark,

I think the module you're referring to is the regulator/rectifier. The R/R is located beside the left pipe and under the drive shaft. This part is related to the electrical charging system and not the problem.

I suspect the clutch system needs adjusted or bled. I would need to inspect the Intruder to acurately diagnose the problems.

I recommend you get a copy of the service manual and learn about this procedure, or have a local tech inspect the problem for you.
