Motorcycle Repair: Oil Leak, clutch slave cylinder, oil level

Question
I own a 2001 Yamaha RS Venture with approx 60,000 kms.  Last summer on a ride, it developed an oil leak on the bottom left side of the engine in the area of the clutch actuator.  Leak is minor (one or two drips overnite) and oil level did not go down appreciably on a 5,000 km ride.  Took it to the dealer and they diagnosed a seal leak in the area of the clutch slave cylinder.  They have replaced the seal twice and the leak remains.  Are you aware of any particular problems in this area and should I be looking for something else?  Appreciate any info you can give me.

Answer
Hi Mike,

I've had a similar problem with a new seal leaking due to being damaged by a burr or other defect on the shaft it seals.

The shaft was dressed and another seal installed. The problem was repaired sucessfully.

Since then, I check the shafts for defects and repair accordingly.

I've had defective new seals, too.

Respectfully,
