Motorcycle Repair: clutch woes, hydraulic actuator, piston assembly

Question
Mark,
I think we may have crossed wires. The clutch assembly itself was undisturbed - only the hydraulic actuator piston assembly was removed from the other side of the bike. The long push rod was ejected from this LHS. Is the push rod in it's own discret housing then? All I can see is a rubber seal where the long push rod extends out from the engine. If there's a tube housing behind this then I guess the ball bearing could not go into the engine - but is this the case? My manual just doesn't give any clues.

Andy

The rod travels through the center of the transmission drive shaft. It connects between the clutch pressure plate and the clutch actuator.
