Motorcycle Repair: 97 gsxr 750, regulator rectifier, specific gravity

Question
I have a 97 gsxr 750 that won't hold a charge and when running the tach. and speedo. both jump all over the place does this sound like the regulator? How do I test it?

Answer
Hi Scott,

An output test needs to be done to test alternator.

Other tests include regulator/rectifier, battery voltage, and battery specific gravity.

Get a copy of the service manual for illustrated tes and repair procedures. The manual will pay for itself with the first repair you perform.

Visit "www.electrosport.com" and follow their "Fault Finding Chart"

Visit "www.gixxer.com" for more intel about your GSX-R.

I return tech information files by email. There was no email address with question as requested.
