Motorcycle Repair: rear brake, honda v65 sabre, rear caliper

Question
I have a 1984 Honda V65 Sabre.  The rear disk brake will stick in the closed position.  I took rear caliper apart and piston looks good.  Can't see any leaking of brake fluid.  Is this the master cylinder problem or caliper?  Should I rebuild caliper?   Thanks

Answer
Hi Rob,

The usual cause for this probelm is caliper seals loaded with gelled or crystalized brake fluid.

The remedy is to thoroughly clean the caliper, replace seals, and flush old brake fluid with new.
