Does this happen all the time or when you start the bike after it has been sitting for a while?

Generally, your bike will do this after it has been sitting for a while and starts right after you start it, due to the fact that the oil tank sits higher than the oil pump and the oil seeps past the checkball.
Since you say it does it after running for a while then either the return side of the oil pump is not working correctly or the return oil line is plugged and not letting the oil back to the tank. i would check the line first and if that is ok then you need to remove the oil pump and do an inspection.
