Motorcycle Repair: Electrical problems with a 97 Suzuki Savage, electrical gremlins, suzuki savage

Question
Hi, I just purchased a 97 suzuki savage with 3k miles. The bike appears to have been laid down on the right side. Engine appears to function normally.  The electrical problems are with the turn signals.

Front (left): running light & turn signal works fine
Front (right): running light ok, but the signal doesn't blink when the switch is activated.

Rear (left): signal does not work
Rear (right): signal does not work
Turn signal indicator on the dashboard (left): works fine

Turn signal indicator on the dashboard (right): does not work.

I tried replacing the bulbs for all of the malfunctioning lights, but no success. Battery is fully charged, fuses are ok (as far as i know there are 2 on this bike). This leads me to believe that the wiring on the bike is faulty in several places. Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Victor,

I think you're on the diagnosis trail. Follow through by checking connectors, condition of wiring insulation, ground connections in the lamp housings, check the turn signal swith contacts, and fusable links.

It's best to have the service manual as a reference. The manual will give specs and test procedures.

Electrical gremlins can be frustrating. Have patience and dig in.

Do you have a 12 volt test probe/light?
