Motorcycle Repair: I replaced a broken clutch..., kawasaki kz550, clutch cable

Question
I replaced a broken clutch cable on an '82 kawasaki kz550 ltd.
Now there is about an inch of slack in the cable I have tried everything in the clymers manual. What should I do next?

Answer
Hi Dave,

Install the cable.

Adjust the cable end cup adjuster to about 5mm out from lever bracket.

Adjust excessive play out of lever by turning adjuster in middle of cable.

Fine tune "cable" adjustment by turning cable end cup adjuster at lever. Tighten wheel nut.

Fine tune "clutch" by turning clutch screw adjuster on engine cover.

If you have problems, you may have the wrong cable for your MC.
