Motorcycle Repair: 79 honda cb750k, carb synchronizer, chain tension

Question
I recently cleaned the carbs of my 750 and I am having trouble getting it running right.  No Power at 60 mph and takes a long time to idle down after reving. All 4 carbs are synchronized.  I hope you can help. Thanks

Answer
Hi Shawn.
ok, you cleaned the carbs.......was it a complete disassembly cleaning or did you just swab them out and brush the stuff you could see?  I ask because you would be amazed at the variation of definitions of "cleaned" that people use for carbs, so I'm just making sure that we are on the same page.  I assume it was the former and not the latter.

You also synchronized the carbs using a carb synchronizer or balanced vacuum guages.  That would mean that those two things are not the problem.

Have you checked the valves and the timing?  Also take a look at the possibility that there could be arcing or shorting against the frame or engine in the wiring.  Make sure that that is not the problem as well.  Also check the cam chain tension.

Start with those and let me know what you find.
Good luck.
