Nissan Repair: brake lights, nissan pickup, brake switch

Question
92 nissan pickup -  the brake lights stay on at all times, even when truck is turned off.  Could it be the brake switch?

thanks

Answer
Hi Sylvia -

Normally it is not the brake switch, but the grommet that the switch presses against when the brake is not applied. It is either worn or missing, as it is only rubber. Usually costs a couple dollars at any auto store.

Sometimes access to the area is difficult. Located the brake switch on the brake pedal behind the dash. Where the button rests when you release the pedal there is a hole. Firmly press the grommet in the hole until it seats. Done.

Hope this helps -
