Nissan Repair: Nissan Altima 1993 car problems, nissan altima, weird sound

QUESTION: My nissan altima 1993 is blowing out a lot of smoke from the exhaust i also have a problem getting the car started. Every time i turn the key in the ignition the car makes a weird sound and i would have to repeat this process multiple times in order to get the car to start. once started a lot of smoke blows out of the exhaust also as soon as i put the car in drive the car dies. I know its not the battery because i had just bought a brand new battery for my car. Sometimes when i finally get the car started and actually have the chance to drive it the car dies during my driving. Once it took me over an hour to get to my house from somewhere which normally takes me 15 minutes because the engine would turn off as im driving and i would have to repeat the process of getting it started again. Can someone please help me and give me somewhat of an idea of what's going on with my car i would highly appreciate it.

Can you tell me what color smoke is coming out of your car exhaust? Is it bluish thick smoke, or white, that dissipates rapidly? Has the car overheated lately?

QUESTION: Hi calvin thank you for replying to my question. the kind of smoke that comes out of my car is thick black smoke and no my car has not overheated lately.

Hi Kirk -

Thick black smoke is carbon, and looks like it is running very rich.

I would look for a fuel leak into the intake throat or manifold. Perhaps the cold start valve is malfunctioning, or one of the injectors is faulty.

Can you pull the spark plugs and tell me if the electrodes are all black, or just one, or two?
